Is Your Strength Really Your Weakness?

If you’re working harder in your business than you want to be – this might help you understand why.

You’re probably very good at the technical aspect of your business. Your strength might be that you’re a great tradesman, or a clever lawyer, or (insert your profession here)… In fact it’s that very fact that had you end up running the business you now have. It’s also that strength that had you get more and more clients, need more staff, and kept you growing (up to a point). You’ve been in business for a long time now, and it’s still your primary strength.

But this is how it’s now your weakness.

If you’ve been running your business for a number of years, you’ve grown a team of staff and you have lots of work on – the primary strength you need to develop is the “Business of Business”.

If you’re the best person in your business at delivering what you sell – you’ll keep being the bottle neck. If you don’t clearly understand how to train and develop your team you’ll keep spending time fixing their errors, or ‘finishing’ their work. If you don’t have a clear view of your metrics you’ll be wasting profits through inefficiencies. You get the idea.

The main point here is that to get better results (more time and more money) from your business – it’s the business side of things to focus on more.
